How to sign up and get started
Overview
The whole process takes about 5 minutes and has five stages: (1) creating your account, (2) building your assistant, (3) choosing your plan, (4) installing the script on your website, and (5) reviewing your assistant settings.
Step 1: Create your account
Head to the Roof AI signup page. You can sign up with an email address and password, or through your Google account.
After that, we ask you two quick questions to personalize your setup:
- Who you're setting this up for (yourself as an agent, or your team / brokerage)
- Your website URL – this is how we pull in the right information to pre-populate your assistant
Step 2: Build your assistant
Once you've entered your website URL, Roof AI starts building your assistant automatically. In the background, we're reading your site to learn about your business – your services, voice, tone, and brand. This usually takes anywhere between 1-2 minutes.
While that's happening, you'll be asked for the email address where you want your leads to be sent.
When your assistant is ready, you'll see a preview. We'll show you what we pulled from your website, after which you can tweak anything that looks off before moving forward.
This pre-population is automatic, but it's worth reviewing. If your website has outdated information or is light on content, you may want to adjust the assistant's description to make sure it represents your brokerage or team accurately.
Step 3: Choose your plan and check out
After reviewing your assistant, you'll see the plan selection and payment screen.
- If you're starting on the Free tier, there's no credit card required, so you can skip straight through
- If you're starting on the Core or Intelligence tier, you'll just need to enter your payment details and confirm your monthly or annual plan
Once payment is confirmed, you'll see a confirmation screen and receive a receipt by email.
Step 4: Install the script on your website
The final step is adding a small JavaScript snippet to your website. Roof AI will give you your unique script tag – it looks like a single line of code that you paste into your website's global header.
For more info on this process, read How to add Roof AI to your website.
Step 5: Review your assistant settings
Once you've completed setup, you'll have access to your assistant settings, a summary of your configuration that you can reference or update at any time. This is where your lead notification email, brand color, and install script live. If anything needs to change down the road, this is the place to start. Read Managing your assistant settings for more.
What happens after installation
Once your script is live, Roof AI starts working immediately. In your first week you should:
- Run a quick test – visit one of your listing pages in an incognito window and start a conversation with the assistant. Make sure it loads, answers questions correctly, and that a test lead reaches your inbox.
- Important note: you should skip this step if you’re on the Free tier, since this test will count towards your 5 lead monthly limit.
- Check your lead email – confirm that lead notifications are going to the right inbox and aren't landing in spam.
- Look out for your first weekly report – every Monday, you'll receive a summary of activity, leads captured, and performance trends.
FAQ
What if I don't finish the signup in one session?
If you drop off during signup, you can return to the onboarding link and pick up where you left off. If you've already created an account, sign back in and you'll be taken back to the setup flow.
Can I go back and change my answers during setup?
Yes, you can navigate back through the setup steps to adjust anything before you check out.
Do I need a developer to install the script?
Not necessarily. Most website platforms let non-technical users add custom code through their settings. If your site requires a developer for header changes, just forward them the script tag we email you.
What if something isn't working after install?
Start by reading the Troubleshooting article on our help center. If you can’t find the answer you need, email us at support@roof.ai with your domain and a link to the page where the AI assistant should be showing up.
